Why Pipeline?

Interest in healthcare careers has never been higher, yet meaningful opportunities for students to explore the field have never been more limited. Over the past two decades, traditional pathways such as Candy Striper programs, hospital volunteering, and informal physician shadowing have steadily declined due to patient privacy regulations, liability concerns, infection control requirements, staffing demands, and the increasing complexity of modern healthcare.

Pipeline Scholars was created to bridge the healthcare Exposure Gap—the growing disconnect between students' interest in healthcare careers and their access to meaningful, real-world experiences that help them understand the profession and prepare for success.

Through structured learning, hands-on skill development, career exploration, and a supportive community, Pipeline Scholars equips students with the knowledge, confidence, perspective, and practical readiness needed to pursue shadowing, volunteering, certifications, internships, entry-level healthcare opportunities, and ultimately, careers in healthcare. Rather than waiting for opportunities to appear, students learn how to recognize, create, and maximize them—entering the healthcare pipeline prepared to succeed.
